In order to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Florida an individual must meet stringent educational and licensing requirements. The
CPA is regulated by the Department of Professional Regulation and is required to complete 80 continuing professional education credits every two years. Therefore, the CPA designation is highly
respected and should be an extremely important consideration when choosing your accounting and/or tax professional.
Some important questions to keep in mind while making the critical choice of who will manage these financial affairs for you:
- Is the person a currently licensed CPA?
- Does the CPA belong to any professional organizations such as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) or the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in the CPA’s
respective state, i.e. in Florida the FICPA?
- Does the CPA have a broad enough spectrum of experience to accommodate your needs and expectations?
